Black Colleges, Universities to Host College Fair for SD Unified Seniors
Posted on 10/30/2020

The presidential election this year is historic in so many ways, including the fact it features the graduate of one of the nation’s historically black colleges and universities nominated for the first time by a major party. California Senator Kamala Harris credits her time at Howard University with shaping her career and commitment to justice. It’s also where she first held an elected office.

San Diego Unified seniors will have a chance to shape their own futures at a college fair hosted by the historically black colleges and universities on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 12 to 2 pm., and on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. We invite you to attend the virtual college fair to learn about HBCUs. The registration link is included on the flyers.

Senator Harris congratulated San Diego Unified seniors this spring on their graduation with a video message.  This year’s seniors will have a chance to follow in her footsteps thanks to a college fair for historically black colleges and universities. Will send link to video of Kamala congratulating the San Diego Unified 2020 graduating class.

The Black College Expo was developed nearly 20 years ago to help empower underrepresented students, demystify the college admissions process, and promote equal access to higher education by providing positive guidance and pathways. The event seeks to educate ALL students about historically black colleges and universities. The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and participates on the Division II level. As the second oldest historically black college and university athletic conference, the SIAC has one of the most storied histories in the NCAA.
