The Government Relations Department serves as the primary liaison for the district with federal, state and local government officials and agencies. The Department maintains an active office in Sacramento to manage, review and advance San Diego Unified's fiscal and policy priorities pertaining to all state legislation and funding proposals affecting P-12 education. The Department also monitors federal legislation affecting education and maintains the district's relationship with Congressional representatives. As the second largest school district in California, San Diego Unified is in a unique position to advocate for sound policies that affect our public schools and students across San Diego.
