Zamorano Elementary Teacher Recognized by California Art Education Association
Art teacher Don Masse has been named as the Outstanding Elementary Visual Art Educator of the Year by CAEA

SAN DIEGO (April, 16 2018) - Stepping onto the Zamorano Fine Arts Academy campus, it's hard not to be struck by the sheer amount of bold, engaging artwork that adorns the school's classroom buildings and exterior walls. Many corners of the campus are bursting with color, and much of it is the result of student projects led by art teacher Don Masse.

Masse's work has recently garnered attention far outside the Bay Terraces neighborhood where Zamorano sits; the California Art Education Association recently selected him as the Outstanding Elementary Visual Art Educator of the Year.

CAEA notified Masse of his selection on April 11. "We feel that you have contributed your services in an exemplary way to CAEA and to the goals of the art education profession," wrote Professional Awards Chairs Sue Conner and Kathleen Faros-Hoeppner. "Your contributions to art education are greatly appreciated and admired."

Masse will receive the award later this year at CAEA's statewide art education conference, to be held November 9-12 at the Queen Mary in Long Beach.
