The existing University City High School woodshop and adjacent classroom space was modified to accommodate the new College, Career &;; Technical Education (CCTE) Fabrication and Design program. The project included minor revisions to existing interior space planning and direct connection between the equipment work area and an existing classroom to be utilized as a computer lab. The athletic facilities and parking lot upgrades project involved a series of related projects that optimized the football field stadium, upper athletic fields, gymnasium, bus drop off and parking lots. The projects provided additional 6,722 square feet of support facilities include new restrooms, ticket booth, concession stands, storage buildings, and monument tower at the football field entrance. Additional features included energy-efficient exterior LED lighting as well as new paving for student and administrative parking lots.

These projects are funded by San Diego Unified School District's Propositions S and Z, which are local bond measures approved by San Diego voters to repair, renovate and revitalize neighborhood schools. In addition to renovation and replacement, bond projects include classroom technology, facilities to support College, Career and Technical Education, classroom air conditioning, safety and security upgrades, and other facilities improvements at traditional and public charter schools throughout San Diego Unified.
