San Diego Unified is proud to offer a number of award-winning neighborhood schools along with a variety of other enrollment choices. Visiting your neighborhood school is a great place to start.

We have a newer language program available at Muir Language Academy, and applications will be accepted for the Spanish program for grades K, 1, 2, and 3 for 2020-21!

We also have a new VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) school and 3 new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Magnet schools:

  • Sequoia Elementary (VAPA)
  • Carson Elementary (STEAM)
  • Linda Vista Elementary (STEAM)
  • Montgomery Middle (STEAM)

The online Choice application for 2020-21 is now closed. New to district families who are not already enrolled in a San Diego Unified School may contact schools of interest to inquire if there is space available for a new Choice pupil. If there is space, and with the principal’s permission, the school will work directly with our department to enroll your child via Choice.

After the school year begins, new to district families or families who have recently moved may apply for Choice in person at the school site or at the Family Welcome and Enrollment Center. Proof of new address is required.

Transportation for all programs is limited. Transportation provided per an IEP as a related service is only provided to the pupil's school of residence, or school of assignment by the Special Education department. It is not provided to a school of Choice. Parents who apply to a school other than the resident school or school of assignment waive the right to transportation as a related service. More information about transportation.

To help you determine the chances of your child being accepted at the first Choice school, refer to the historical data, linked below.
