Nipaquay Elementary School - opening fall 2022

A new elementary school, Nipaquay, will open with grades UTK-2nd in Fall 2022. The school is located at the corner of Civita Boulevard and Via Alta. The attendance area for the new school was approved by the Board of Education in spring 2020 and is available here.  Enrollment information will be available in Spring 2022.

Mira Mesa Cluster - ATTENDANCE BOUNDARY CHANGES

The 3Roots development, currently under construction, is located in the southwest corner of the Mira Mesa neighborhood. At full build-out in approximately four years 3Roots will include 1,800 units of apartments and single family residences. Changes to school attendance area boundaries were needed to provide school assignment to the new housing. Several scenarios were developed and reviewed with the community. The preferred Scenario (C, described below) was presented at the Mira Mesa Cluster meeting on May 24, 2021. It was approved by the Board of Trustees on June 22, 2021 and implemented in the 2021-22 school year.

Three elementary schools and two middle schools attendance areas have changed. Jonas Salk and Mason attendance areas expand to include 3Roots, portions of Jonas Salk's attendance area transfer to Mason, and a portion of Mason's attendance area transfers to Walker. The eastern boundary of Jonas Salk's area will be Amantha Avenue as a result of community input. Middle school attendance areas are also adjusted to match the proposed elementary changes, with Mason and Walker continuing to feed to Wangenheim, and Jonas Salk to Challenger.
