San Diego Community College District and San Diego Unified to Hold Annual Joint Meeting March 19 at City College
March 15, 2024
The future direction of public education in San Diego will be the focus of discussion at an annual joint session of the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) and San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) governing boards on Tuesday, March 19, at the San Diego City College Saville Theatre.
The annual meeting offers an opportunity to review progress toward joint board goals, which focus on expanding access and pathways to college via dual enrollment and the San Diego Promise free tuition program.
“With the San Diego Community College District being the largest provider of higher education in the region and the San Diego Unified School District being the second-largest K-12 public school system in the state, these annual joint meetings provide a chance for students, faculty, and classified professionals to highlight their successes and discuss any opportunities as we move forward toward ensuring high-quality educational opportunities for all,” said SDCCD Chancellor Gregory Smith.
“The joint board meeting offers us the opportunity to assess our shared goals and, if necessary, make adjustments to ensure that San Diego Unified and SDCCD are working together to create conditions that allow our students to thrive in high school, in college, and in life.” said San Diego Unified Superintendent Dr. Lamont Jackson.
The meeting is set to begin at 5 p.m. The Saville Theatre is at 14th and C streets in downtown’s East Village. The meeting can also be viewed on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/@SDCCDTrustees/live.
The public is invited and free parking is available in Lot 8 immediately west of the theatre. For information on providing public comment at this meeting, please visit sdccd.edu/board_comments.
