Student Outcomes Focused Governance

Goals & Guardrails

San Diego Unified School District and the Board of Education are committed to transparency, accountability, and keeping students at the center of all that we do. The district strives to create conditions where students feel they belong and can thrive academically and socially.

To achieve that aim, the Board and district leaders have worked collaboratively over the past year to engage students, staff, families and school communities in the development of specific and measurable goals for student achievement.

Goals

The goals for student achievement outline what we want students to be able to know and do and are based on the vision and values of the community.

Guardrails

In addition to goals for student outcomes, the Board has also adopted a set of guardrails. These guardrails outline the work the district is committed to continuing while working to achieve the goals for student outcomes.

This not only signals strong unity and cohesion across the organization but will also allow students to achieve greater success with all schools and departments working together toward a shared set of goals.
