Bullying, Intimidation, and Retaliation

Bullying can be a physical or verbal act, including written or electronic communications, that is severe or pervasive, and has the effect of or can reasonably be predicted to have the effect of:

  1.  Placing a reasonable student in fear of harm to his or her person or property;
  2.  Causing a reasonable student to experience a substantially detrimental effect on his or her physical or mental health;
  3.  Causing a reasonable student to experience substantial interference with his or her academic performance; or
  4.  Causing a reasonable student to experience substantial interference with his or her ability to participate in or benefit from the services, activities, or privileges provided by a school.

Intimidation is intentionally coercing or frightening another to behave in a certain way against their will through force, fear or threats.

Retaliation occurs when an aggressor harasses, intimidates, or bullies a student who has reported incidents of bullying.

Any acts of bullying, intimidation, and retaliation by students or adults may lead to discipline in accordance with District policies.
