In addition, the following academic marks can be issued per teacher discretion and within the circumstance listed below:

  • Incomplete (I) - this mark would be issued if a student missed a major assignment, such as a final exam, and has made arrangements to make up the assignment after the grading window closes. The student has 6 weeks to make up the assignment in order for the teacher to issue a final grade.

  • In Progress (IP) - this mark can be issued if the teacher believes the student needs more time to complete the course requirements. An IP contract should be used by the teacher to indicate what needs to be completed by the student in order to earn a final grade. The student has up to 12 weeks to complete the work in order for the teacher to issue a final grade.

  • No Grade (NG) - this mark is used ONLY when a student does not have enough seat time in a course to issue credit, when partial credits are pending, OR when a student transfers in with no transcript records. This mark CANNOT be used in lieu of issuing an "F" grade and CANNOT be used as it was in the Spring 2020 "hold harmless" grading policy.
  • No Credit (NC) - Teachers may issue No Credit (NC) on a student’s report card in lieu of issuing an "F" grade if the following parameters are met:

    • Advanced approval of the site principal/administrator is obtained.
    • Evaluated class work is passing or acceptable, but excessive absences have prevented the student from meeting course objectives.
    • Absences are for reasons other than truancy.

A grade of ‘NC’ is excluded from GPA calculation and prints on the student’s transcript to document course enrollment. The student will NOT earn credit and would need to repeat the course if it fulfills a graduation requirement.

In general, both middle and high schools will be using a quarter-system for the 2020-21 academic school year. Courses will be evenly distributed across quarters in order for students to take less courses during a grading period but still earn the same amount of credits throughout the year:

  • For quarter courses used primarily in high schools or for the high school transcript, students will receive ONE progress report each quarter prior to the final grade being issued at the end of the QUARTER. This excludes dual enrollment college courses which are semester-long and will have a final grade issued at the end of the semester.
