San Diego Unified Honors Commitment to Military Supports with Holiday Card Drive
Help spread joy to single military members stationed in San Diego away from their families this holiday season

SAN DIEGO (December 8, 2017) In an effort to thank those who serve us year round, the San Diego Unified School District will launch the 1st annual Military Holiday card drive Monday December 11, 2017. The drive will run through Friday, December 15, 2017 12:00 p.m.

The district would like to honor their commitment to servicing San Diego's military families with a small gesture of gratitude to those military members stationed in San Diego away from their families this holiday season.

Year round the district assures military families that their children with receive the best public education possible by providing them with a variety of resources and services catered to their unique needs. Almost every school within the district services a child whose parent or guardian is serving or has served in our armed forces. San Diego Unified services the largest number of military connected students in the state of California. Overall, San Diego Unified serves over 13,000 military connected children and 6 military bases within district boundaries.

San Diego Unified is proud to support their military families with one on one supports in a variety of ways. This includes welcoming new families to their neighborhood school, offering services that help match them with similar educational programs they were enrolled in previously, as well as introductions to local military liaisons that can help with any issues or resources they may need. All district schools have military-friendly environments with programs, teachers and counselors trained to aid in the transition and adaptation of their incoming and outgoing military families.

Because of our strong connection to the military community, we are looking forward to helping spread some joy to them this time of year. Please join San Diego Unified in thanking our hometown heroes by donating a holiday card.
