Town Hall Meetings to Discuss San Diego Unified School Board Election Process Begin Tonight
WHAT: Members of the media are invited to cover meetings being held across San Diego to discuss possible changes to the election process for the San Diego Unified School District Board of Education. Topics up for discussion include term limits, subdistricts, and the voting structure for primaries and general elections.
Meetings will be held throughout the city and are scheduled for:
April 11, 2018 (Wednesday): Mira Mesa High School Media Center, 6:00 p.m.
April 19, 2018 (Thursday): Patrick Henry High School Cafetorium, 6:00 p.m.
April 23, 2018 (Monday): Mission Bay High School Media Center, 6:00 p.m.
April 26, 2018 (Thursday): Sherman Elementary School Cafetorium, 6:00 p.m.
April 28, 2018 (Saturday): Lincoln High School Library, 10:00 a.m.
In addition to these scheduled meetings, a brief survey to gauge opinion on some of the topics related to the Board of Education elections has been created. The survey will be available on the Advisory Committee on School Board Member Elections web page (https://www.sandiegounified.org/board-me...) today at 2 p.m.
Translation services and child care will be provided at each meeting. Feedback provided by the community will be used to shape possible action by the Board of Education and the San Diego City Council.
