Wilson Middle School Robotics Club 2015-16
The Wilson Middle School Robotics Club is raising money to help us learn about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) in a hands-on way and to participate in various robotics competitions throughout the school year.
Wilson Middle School, a registered 501 (c)(3) institution, is a Title I public school whose population is comprised of mostly minority students who all qualify for free and/or reduced lunch. Outside of school, many of our students don’t have access to experiences like engineering and learning to program and our school does not have the budget to fund our team financially.
This is our fourth year and our club continues to grow. In fact, with very little advertisement or active recruitment, we now have over 40 members and we're growing! All these future STEAM leaders eagerly tinkering, creating, and learning. The students also spend quite a bit of their time doing public outreach, mentoring elementary school students in STEAM as well as exhibiting their work and speaking at public events including the Maker Faire San Diego, High Tech Fair, Robo-Expo, and the STEAM Maker Festival. Their passions are ignited and they are genuinely excited to share what they have learned with anyone willing to listen!
