School Update (4-25-2017)
Principal Olivero here with a quick school update. The next two days will be a bit different at UCHS. We will have block scheduling in order to accommodate a needed length of time for the 10th Grade Science test. This is a pilot exam for the state of California where students will be tested on what they have learned relative to physical science and life science. Tomorrow will be periods 1, 3, and 5 and Thursday will be periods 2, 4, and 6.
Just to let you know, last weekend was another exciting weekend for our Cents. First, congratulations to all of our dance teams who were outstanding at Friday's recital. We have a lot of kids participating in dance and it amazing to see their talent in action. In other news, the swim team took second place at the invitational meet in El Cajon and brought home a trophy and Alex Santana was awarded the the top swimmer in the weekend competition.
We also had several students competing in a Statistics competition at UCSD. We will know the results of this competition in May. Also a shout out to our All Male and Drill Team dancers for their third place ranking from the Six Flags Dance competition on Sunday. And probably the biggest news to share is that after winning several local Color Guard competitions, the team was invited to compete in the Southern California State Championships. How did they do? They finished second to earn a medal and earn the distinction for being the first team to earn a medal for UCHS and to place at the state competition. Equally exciting is that Rebecca Mayer-Cherry was awarded a $1,000 scholarship based on the competition.
Have a great week! Mr. O.
