School Update (2-19-2016)

Get Involved and Stay Informed (02-29-2016)

Good evening, Principal Olivero here early in the week with your weekly school update.

Tonight, February 29th, there will be a spring parent/coach meeting in the auditorium at 6:00 pm.  All parents are encouraged to attend if their son or daughter is participating in a spring sport.  The meeting is designed to inform parents regarding school and CIF rules, as well as a chance to meet and talk with the coach of a particular sport.

Tomorrow, March 1st, at 2:30 pm, the School Site Council will meet to review the school’s Single Plan for Student Achievement for the 2016-17 academic year.  All are invited as I will also share the school’s plan for how to use the site’s anticipated funds for next year.  The budgetary decisions for 2016-17 will also be posted on the school website later this week for community review and understanding.

Also tomorrow, our Girls’ Varsity Soccer Team is really making some noise in the CIF Playoffs.  With their upset victory over Oceanside last Friday, 2-1, the now have advanced to the CIF semifinals where they will play Tuesday night, at West Hills, at 5:00 pm. We wish our lady Cents the very best and know they would appreciate your support.

On Thursday night, March 3rd, the PTSA will hold their monthly meeting in the media center at 6:30 pm.  The PTSA has invited a speaker from Kaplan to discuss the ACT and the changes to the new SAT.  We will have translation services available for our Spanish speaking parents. I will also share information as to the WASC visit as well as go over where we have been as a school over the last 5 years as well as our anticipated next steps.

On Sunday, March 6th, at 5:15 pm, we invite all parents to come to meet with the WASC team members. This would be parents on the SSGT, SSC, PTSA, Boosters Clubs, and all parent members.  Part of the process for reviewing a school is to hear from parents regarding how the school is doing in support of students and parents.  While we know it is a Sunday, we are hoping our extremely supportive parents will let them know the work being done at UCHS to support students.  Again, the meeting is scheduled for 5:15 pm on Sunday.

Have a great week, Mr. O.
