Get Involved and Stay Informed (12-12-2017)
Principal Olivero here with your weekly school update.
As a reminder, we will be holding a meeting tomorrow night, December 13th, at 6 pm, in the media center to discuss the possibility of changing our school start time next year. Please know we will have Spanish translation available for our Spanish speaking parents.
All should know that attached on the school’s website are various articles citing research that shows high school teenagers are not getting enough sleep based on their biological clocks (circadian rhythms). The research shows there are real impacts on teenagers as a result of not getting enough sleep. With this research in mind, the SSGT wants to see how school stakeholders feel about the possibility of starting school somewhere between the hours of 8 and 8:30 am. Because a later start time can impact everyone differently, we ask that all students, staff, and parents complete the online survey found on the school’s website. The results for the survey will be given to the SSGT members who will decide whether to ask the district for a later starting time or not.
Thursday night, December 14th, will be our Winter Holiday concert put on by our award winning music program. All are invited to attend this engagement that promises to have sounds of the season. Concert will start at 7 pm.
If we do not see you before Friday, we wish you all a fantastic winter break and thank you all for an amazing first half of the school year.
