Get Involved and Stay Informed (11-14-2017)
Principal Olivero here with your weekly school update.
This is the last week of school before we head off for Thanksgiving break.
Just a few exciting events to report for the remainder of the week…
Tomorrow night, November 15th, at 7pm, the Girls’ Volleyball Team will host the opening round of State CIF Playoff competition. This will be the first time the school has hosted a State volleyball event. The team is seeded number one for all of southern California in Division IV. If they continue to win, they will host all matches at UCHS. We hope all will consider out Wednesday night to support our State bound volleyball team.
On Friday night, November 17th, at 7pm, the City League Champions in Football will host the CIF quarterfinals in as they will be taking on Serra High School. The 9-1 Centurions head into the playoffs seeded number one and will host black Friday night should the win. There is nothing like playing over Thanksgiving as this is a sign of success.
Saturday, November 18th, is another big day for our Centurions in that the Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country Team members will be racing in the CIF finals. The top three teams and runners will earn a spot to go to the State competition the following week.
And last, our award winning band, and color guard, head up to Riverside to compete for a State Championship on Saturday, November 18th. Their combined scores have them ranked first at this point - with the top three schools earning medals. Last year was the highest raking in school history, 4th place, and this year they are determined to come back with a State medal. Just to put their efforts into perspective, last weekend, the team scored an 84.7 which is the highest score a UCHS program has ever earned.
We are so proud of the success our Centurions are having. We feel extremely blessed and thankful to be working with such a dedicated and committed group of students and parents.
Have a restful week off and we hope to see you all at schools as we root on our Cents! Be safe and have fun! Mr. O.
