School Update (10-18-2016)
Good evening, Principal Olivero here with your school update.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 19th, is a big day at UCHS. All 10th grade students, and students in grades 9 and 11 who signed up will be taking the PSAT. This is a practice Scholastic Aptitude Test offered by the College Board. The results from the practice test lets students know their areas of strengths and areas needing more support in English and math. The results also are an early predictor for students thinking about taking an Advanced Placement class in the future. Last, juniors if they score high enough, their score can possibly earn National Merit recognition. We wish our Cents a good day!
On Thursday, at 10:20 am, UCHS will be participating in the Great ShakeOut. This will be a drill that reviews with students what to do in case of an earthquake. We also plan to evacuate our buildings and have students and staff relocate to the stadium, or another location should there be ever a need to do so, to practice the process of locating all students and staff on campus. For purposes of practice, we will ask a few students and staff stay behind so that the staff search and rescue team and practice searching the campus. If you had plans to come by school at this time, we highly suggest you make other plans. This process usually takes us about 30 minutes.
This Friday, October 21st , students will receive their progress report card grades for the first grading period. Please make sure to check your student’s backpack or check progress grades using the Parent PowerSchool login. Please know that each teacher is listed on the school website under Teacher/Staff Info. tab and I encourage you to reach out to a teacher should you need additional information about how best to support your student.
Have a great week!
