School Update (09-05-2019)

School Update (09-05-2019)

Principal Olivero here and wanted to provide you a school update.  First, this Friday, tomorrow, the PTSA will hold their first general meeting in the media center starting at 7:15 am.  I will be speaking at the end of their meeting to share how the school did last year and what our plans are for this coming year in terms of school focus.  If a parent cannot make this early morning principal chat, I will post the PowerPoint to the school’s website.

I sent a call out over the summer asking that those interested in serving on the School’s Site Council or School Site Governance Team to please email me at jolivero@sandi.net.  I received only a few names so if you are still interested, please email me your interest ASAP.  We need this done very soon as election for these spots will start the week of Back-to-School- which will be Thursday, September 19, 2019

Just a reminder, if your student missed taking their school photo ID picture, the photographer will be doing picture make-ups on Tuesday, September 10th.  Students will be called in by grade level to take their pictures during one of their classes.

Also as a reminder, if you have not already done so, please turn in the Facts for Parents document that needs to be signed by the student and their parent/guardian.

Last, looking ahead, Friday, September 13th, the ASB will be holding Club Rush at lunch.  This is an opportunity, especially for new students, to join one or more than 60 student clubs on campus.  All of the clubs have a particular area of interest.  It’s one of the neat ways students at UCHS find and connect with others who have similar areas of interest. Students can even form their own club if that club is not already formed on campus. As I shared, there are over 60 established clubs and it is our desire that all of our students find a club, participate in  athletics, and get involved in extracurricular activities at school.  It will enrich their high school experience and research shows that engaged students have higher GPAs and care more about school.

Have a great weekend and hope to see you at the PTSA meeting and principal chat tomorrow morning. Have a great weekend, Mr. O.
