UCHS Start of School Update (08-15-2018)
Good evening, Principal Olivero here with a few corrections and to provide you more information about the football game Friday night.
On Monday and Tuesday, August 20th and 21st, we will have fall registration for students to turn in their registration packets, take their photo ID, and buy ASB cards. On the 20th, we will see our juniors from 8:30am -10:30am. We will see our seniors from 10:30am-12:30pm. On the 21st, we will see our sophomores from 8:30am-10:30am and we will see our freshmen from 10:30am-12:30pm. Sorry about confusing everyone with the two dates. Also to note, posted on the school website is the transportation pickup and drop off times and location for registration for the 20th and 21st.
As shared, Friday night is our first football doubleheader against Vahalla High School. JV game will start at 3:30 pm and varsity will start at 6:30 pm. Because the games are starting so early in August, and we have not held our school registration yet to allow students the means to buy and ASB card. AS a result, any UCHS student with some form of photo ID can attend the game for free. To facilitate allowing students in, a separate line will be set up at the gate window for students to show their photo ID. Adult tickets are $7 and students ages 5-12 are $2. Under age 5 are free.
As a facility update, I am told the quad area will be done on Monday. We are not expected to move back into our main office until the end of September. All the student bathrooms have been renovated and are up to code in terms of ADA requirements. I think our students are going to like the new tile restrooms. Our auditorium should also be done by the start of next week. They have taken out about 50 seats to allow for required wheelchair access. There are also new wheelchair ramps up to the stage. The back alley road on the north side of campus should also be completed next week. Athletes and parents can begin to drive up to the upper fields. In the gym, the new backboards are up and the new bleachers are being installed. Over the summer it’s been truly a mess around campus, but I think our students and community will like the upgrades around school.
See you all at the game Friday, if not at registration next week. Mr. O.
