School Update (06-03-2019)

Get Involved and Stay Informed (06-02-2019)

Principal Olivero here with the weekly school update.

You will likely be getting more than one call out as we wind our way down to the final school days for the year.

First, I’d like to express our deepest appreciation for the breakfast held for the UCHS staff last Friday morning. Our parents and community are simply the best.  We also appreciate the ongoing gestures throughout the year from our Secret Cents. It provided a nice pick-me-up this year.  Again, thank you for making UC high a great place to work and have fun!

We will have our Underclass Awards this Tuesday, June 4th, period 6th.  This celebration will be in the gym and will be held to recognize achievements earned for the academic year and for grades earned the first semester. We know parking will be a major challenge so attending parents, please plan to arrive early.

This next bit of information is for our athletes next year.  In order for an athlete to participate in a sport next year, they have to complete all necessary paperwork and have to take a physical.  The paperwork to complete is located on UCHS’s website. Go to the Athletics tab and then look for the 2019-2020 Athletic Packets link.  Athletic packets need to be completed before a student completes their physical.

Students can always go to their primary care doctor to get their physical.  The doctor will need to complete the form found in the athletic packet.  As a second option, the UC Centurion Foundation will hold a Physicals Night for students on Tuesday, June 4th, at 5pm at UCHS.  On this night, UCSD doctors will be available to conduct physicals at school for $40.  The $40 goes to the UC Centurion Foundation who in turn uses these funds to support athletics at the school. Please know the student/parent need the athletic packet filled out in advance before coming to the Physical Night event to meet with the UCSD doctor. All should know that it can take a few hours to complete the physical process- so please plan accordingly.

This week, Monday through Wednesday, students will be returning books to the library and cleaning out their school lockers if they received one for the year.

All school days this week are full school days with the exception of Friday.  Friday, June 7th, will be our first day of finals and we will have periods 1 and 6 this day.  School on Friday will be out at 11:59 am.

Have a great week and I will be sending out more information late this week.  Regards, Mr. O.
