Get Involved and Stay Informed (06-01-2017)
Good evening, Principal Olivero here with your weekly school update.
Please know that we are in the process of closing out the school year. This means we need to collect all textbooks and have all school lockers cleaned out. Starting on Monday, June 5th, seniors are up first, and all lockers and locks need to be turned in at lunch. On Tuesday and Wednesday, freshmen, sophomores and juniors are to clean out their lockers. All textbooks will be collected from English classes.
That’s all the information for seniors and their parents. If you have a student that is in 9th, 10th or 11th grade, please listen up!
Until next Friday, June 9th, students have one last chance to see their counselor if they are planning to change a class they want to take next year. Counselors met with students in February, but in case a student or parent have second thoughts, now is the time to finalize the preference. After June 14th, there will be no changing classes unless there is a mistake. Counselors are outside in the quad to meet with students at lunch.
Speaking of next year, we would ask for all to visit the school website (front page) as we have posted information about summer packet pickup and staggered registration days and times. Please note that we are speeding up these events as we want to try to take advantage of using our finance and library office staff before they retire. Please note and calendar these dates and times. They are different from prior years.
On Tuesday, June 6th, The Centurion Foundation (CF) is hosting their annual Sports Screening Physical Event from 4:30-7:00pm in UCHS Activity Room. The cost will be $30. While students can go to their own doctor, the CF has organized an event to have all UCHS student athletes and future students complete their physical at UCHS. There will be doctors and nurses on hand to screen all student athletes. It’s somewhat of a one-stop-shop process for the day. On Monday, June 5th, San Diego Unified will release a new updated online system for processing physical forms and paperwork. There will still be a few forms to sign as a hard copy, but most all other forms will be submitted by the parent/guardian electronically.
We are getting there, have a great evening. Mr. O.
