Principal Olivero here with your weekly school update.
We have officially started AP testing at UCHS. Please know that tomorrow, May 8th, the media center will be closed all day to students, staff and parents. We will be holding the AP Spanish Language test in the media center. If students or parents need to contact the attendance office and counseling, they may do so by using the side doors in room 427 and room 424.
Last Wednesday the School Site Governance Team made two important decisions concerning the use of cell phones on campus, and the change to school start time for most Wednesdays next year. All students and parents should review the New Cell Phone Policy and New Start Time for Wednesdays Next Year that is posted on the school website. In both decisions, SSGT members used the feedback they received to help form an outcome that best meets the needs of students, parents, staff, and school administration.
On Friday, May 11th, students will be receiving a copy of their progress report for their classes. Please ask/look for them this coming weekend. They will also be available online via PowerSchool for parents later in the week.
As we get towards the end of spring, a special shout out to our spring teams as they head into CIF competition. Just to note, Boys’ Tennis was league champs, first time in over 20 years. They finished the year, 19-1, as they reached the CIF finals. Girls’ Track also won a league title and will soon start City Conference finals and then on to CIF. The Boys’ Baseball Team is also neck and neck competing for a league title. Our Swim/Dive Team competed in the City Finals last Friday and over 25 did well enough to advance to CIF. We wish all of our teams the very best as we look to close out one of our top years in terms of team/group achievements. Well done Cents!
Last, if you have not already done so, we need all parents to complete the California School Parent Survey identifying areas of strengths and areas for improvement for the school. The link and survey address can be found on the front page of our school website. Thank you for taking the time to provide us feedback.
Have a great week, Mr. O.
