Get Involved and Stay Informed (04-28-2019)
Principal Olivero here with an early-week call out. I have a lot to share for this week so hang in there.
This coming Thursday Night UCHS will be hosting what known as ArtAttack. Students in the ArtsTech program for the school will be presenting videos, drawings, paintings, sculptures, etc., representing art expression tied to various themes. Additionally, the art department will be holding an open house to display works of art created during the school year. This event is open to both students and parents. There will be light refreshments, food, and drinks available. The ArtAtatck will be from 6pm to 8 pm, Thursday night, May 2nd.
On Friday, May 3rd, we will have an action packed day. The school will be hosting the City Conference Track Championships (special shout out to our ladies for wining a league title in track). This will take place in the stadium from 3:30 pm until dark.
Also this same afternoon, the ladies softball team will be playing up on the upper diamond. A bit later in the evening, at 7pm, the boys’ volleyball team will be hosting the second round CIF playoffs in our gum. Special shout out to them as well as they also won a league title.
Then this same evening, EdUCate will be hosting the 25th Silver Anniversary Taste of the Triangle. This event will feature tastes of cuisines from local restaurants and a silent auction with online preview and bidding prior to the event. We would love to see you there and at our VIP Reception. It will be held at the UTC Mall and the PIRCH Showroom from 7pm to 10 pm. Please visit the EdUCate website to gain more details for this event.
Last, as we wind down, it’s extremely important that we receive back all text books and supplies. In talking with the school’s librarian, she shared that there are far too many students who have not returned books and items and it is causing real challenges for students who need them. As it is, she is not sure what number of books need to be ordered over the summer to have available for next fall.
Attached you will find a link that will allow students and parents to look up whether they are missing a book or owe a fine for a lost book or item from school. This link is below and found on the main page for the school website. Please check this link and make arrangements to either return the book/item, or see the librarian to pay for what has been lost
Please know that if reparation is not excused and not paid by the student or parent/guardian, the district/school will withhold a student’s grades, diploma and transcripts in accordance with law, Board policy, and administrative regulations.
Have a great April/May week! Mr. O.
