School Update (04-25-2016)

Get Involved and Stay Informed (04-25-2016)

Good evening, Principal Olivero here with your weekly school update.

Over the weekend we had a number of groups bring home trophies and recognition for the school.  First, a number of our UC Cents with Mr. Moody brought home a number of trophies at the local Improv Comedy competition. Second, we had a group of students and Ms. Chadwick attend a Beach Clean Up Day for Earth Day last week. Third, our all male and girls drill dance teams competed against 11 other schools at Six Flag Magic Mountain.  The girls took third and the boys took first place.  A great weekend for our Centurions.  Clap it up!!!

Earlier in the month, I mentioned that UC would be hosting a Community College Night for current sophomores and juniors who plan to take a community college class at UCHS next year.  I shared that the meeting would be Tuesday, April 26th.  Because Mira Mar Community College is hosting a Community College Night this same evening for our seniors, we have decided to move our College Night to Tuesday, May 17th.  This will be a semi-mandatory meeting for all students next year that plan to take a community college class on the UCHS campus next year.  There is vital information to share with parents and students and we need to get this done before letting out of school.  Again, the Community College Night will be Tuesday, May 17th.

We are almost to May and this means the most important last two months are ahead of us.  May each year is considered “Testing” month as we have AP testing and SBAC testing for students.  Starting May 2nd, we will start the first of a series of two weeks of AP testing.  Please visit the school website for which tests is given on a particular day.  Students will NOT be allowed to take the test without a student ID card and all cell phones will need to be secured and off during the test.  AP test taking students should also know that students are to attend all classes.  In other words, students should not go home after a test and they should not come late to school because of a test later in the day.

We hope all of you will consider attending the dance recitals this week that will be Thursday and Friday night.  Please be aware that shows sell out.  Tickets will be $5 dollars.

Last, the Taste of The Triangle is scheduled for Friday, May 6th.  Please go online and get a ticket as it is always a great time and your participation helps our UC schools.

Have a great evening and we hope to see you all this week.  – Mr. O.
