Get Involved and Stay Informed (4-04-2018)
Principal Olivero here with your weekly school update.
You heard right…this week our Theater Arts Department is showcasing the musical, Bye Bye Birdie. All are welcome as each night through Friday our students will be presenting our small- town America (live) musical showing. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office.
This next note is for next year’s juniors and seniors. We are holding a mandatory meeting for students and their parents who plan to take a community college class next year. The meeting will be held on Wednesday night, April 11th, at 6pm, in the auditorium. It’s important that we meet to go over what it means to take a college class on a high school campus and impact and benefit taking a class can have for students. If a student passes a college class with a grade of A, B, or C, the credit earned is weighted and is counted for high school and college credit. If a student earns a D or F grade, the student is now considered to be on academic probation as a future college student.
To provide additional guidance and assistance, a community college representative will be on hand to address how the community college supports the needs of 504 and special education IEPs. We will also have Spanish translation services available for our Spanish speaking parents.
This Thursday night, April 5th, the PTSA will be holding their monthly meeting at 6:15pm in the media center. They will be holding elections for next year and have a presentation planned for “SMART” guns. This is a presentation for preventing firearm injuries in homes.
Last, we wish our STATE bound Science Olympiad Team the very best as they will compete for at the state championship competition this Saturday in Pasadena, Ca.
Have a great week and hope to see you at a show.
