School Opening Update #3 (07-01-2020)
Hello Centurions! The message pertains to updates in terms of preparing student athletes for the possible upcoming fall sporting season and school year. As we are learning, the information being released by our public health officials is very fluid based on the rate of spread of COVID in our community and state. What’s true today may not be true in a week or two. Again, we plan to hear from CIF about fall sporting teams on July 20, 2021. Based on what they share on the 20th, each school district in the state will then need to decide what sports are offered and the necessary safeguards needed as a result.
In the meantime, the district yesterday released the necessary paperwork for student athletes to participate in a sport for the 2020-21 academic year. All student athletes need to be cleared to practice or play in a sport. Students and their parents need to go to the school website and look at the top Athletic tab and go to the athletic link. The Clearance process and Physical Packet completion has two parts to it. The first part is the Medical History and the second part is the Physical paperwork. The doctor dates and signs the physical paperwork allowing the student to play a sport. Both the Medical History and Physical paperwork completed need to will be uploaded to the Athletic Clearance link.
Again, we are not sure whether we will have sports in the fall or not, but we need to start the clearance process now in order to be ready in case sports are allowed in the months ahead.
Hope all are well, Mr. O.
