School Closure Update/Senior Information #25 (Tuesday, May 26, 2020)
Hello Class of 2020, as shared the other day, we have a busy week ahead of us.
This Thursday, May 28, 2020, we ask that all seniors come to school at the times listed below:
A-CAR 9:00 AM – 10:15 AM
CAS-HAM 10:15 AM – 11:30 AM
HAN-MC 11:30 AM – 12:45 PM
ME-SAM 12:45 PM – 2:00 PM
SAN-Z 2:00 PM – 3:15 PM
Seniors will turn in all textbooks and supplies. Any seniors that borrowed a Chromebook from the district will need to turn it in on the 28th. If seniors have items in lockers and on campus, they will be given a chance to clear out their lockers and turn in their locks. Once our seniors have turned in all their books and have cleared any and all debts, they will be given their senior cap and gown, diploma covers, etc.
Here is how the process will work:
Once students arrive at their assigned times, they will check in at the tent located at the flag pole. This station will be set up to have seniors get their check-off sheet for turning in all books, supplies, and paying for fines. Once students are checked in, they will go to the numbered stations (uniform returns, locker return, textbook return, etc.). The second to the last station will be the finance office window. Here students will turn in their checkoff sheet to Ms. Alonzo. Ms. Alonzo will review your sheet for all signatures and make sure that student does not owe a fine. If a fine is owed, the student will need to pay in cash or check for money owed. The school does not have a credit card reader so only cash and checks. If this checks out, the student will receive their golden ticket. The golden ticket will be taken to the media center where each student will get their senior bag. The bag contains the cap and gown and any graduation adornments a students has earned.
Ok, here’s where it can be a bit confusing so hang in their seniors…
When a student picks up their senior bag, it will be determined whether the student paid for their cap and gown or are renting one. All seniors at this time need to decide whether they plan to participate in the hoped-to-be summer graduation ceremony. If a student who has rented their cap and gown says they will not be participating in the summer graduation, we will give them their graduation diploma on June 9th. These seniors will be also need to turn in their cap and gown at school on June 9th so that we can turn them back in to the company to avoid being charged for them.
If a student who rented a cap and gown says they plan to attend the summer graduation, the school will hang on to their diploma and it will be given out at the summer graduation ceremony. Once the ceremony is over, we will collect the rented cap and gown and hand out diplomas to these students. For the students who have purchased their cap and gowns, we will be handing out diplomas on June 9th.
We need all seniors following public health guidelines for social distancing and wearing masks. This is to protect our seniors, their families, and our staff. There will likely be more emails and calls coming soon to all seniors. We need done by Wednesday, May 27 for all seniors who want to be recognized. Also, Yearbook Digital Signing Pages are available now! These pages give every student in our school the chance to create virtual signing pages, invite their friends to leave messages, and print out the final pages to keep with the yearbook as a permanent keepsake. Go to: to get started.
Talk to you soon seniors, Mr. O.
