School Closure Update #20 (Friday, May 8, 2020)

Good afternoon Centurions, this is your end of the week and Mother’s Day call out.

We just completed our second week of Distance Learning.  The results show that over 90% of our students are engaging in at least one class and around 65% are engaging in all six classes. While I know we have made a quick adjustment to go to a distance learning approach, I also know most all miss being at school. We dearly miss our students.

For our seniors, my heart continues to ache knowing we are missing senior events. Today I saw an email come out from our baseball coach, Coach Frink, and he highlighted his senior players. Today would have been the final league game against Mira Mesa. I couldn’t help, but reflect on my own senior year as we were able to win our league and win CIF in baseball. My heart aches for our senior athletes. Hang tough seniors, we are thinking of you!

Last, in the coming days I hope to learn more for how the district will do graduation, textbook return, locker clean out, uniform return, etc.  I will let everyone know when the guidelines are sent to us.

That’s it for this week.  Remember, we start AP testing next week.  And really remember, Mother’s Day is Sunday.  Happy Mother’s Day moms.  Mr. O.
