Senior Update: (04-30-2018)
Good evening, Principal Olivero here with some information for our senior students and their parents.
Please know that information regarding graduation and all other senior activities is on the school’s website under the tab Student Life and Senior Bulletin for Class of 2018. Please review this important information with your student.
As you may know, graduation day for UCHS this year is Wednesday, June 13th, at 2 pm. Each senior will be given 8 graduation guest tickets. Some seniors do not always have eight guests and seniors are free to ask other students about giving them their extra tickets.
Each year we have a major challenge with not having enough onsite parking. In the past, we set up a shuttle system whereby parents were picked up by bus at a few of our local church parking lots. This worked well one year but not last year. As a result, we are going to do our best to allow each senior one guest parking pass. We aren’t 100% sure we can pull it off, but we will do our best to maximize all available parking areas, which includes the upper back grass fields.
The school will reserve 70 spots for disabled parking. From May 14, 2018 to Tuesday, May 29, 2018, parents or relatives who show proof of a handicap placard can present their card to Parent Support Liaison Marie Byrd in the media center or email her at email@example.com, to show proof of needing disabled parking. Please know that these 70 parking spots are on a first come-first-serve basis.
We have a lot of school left as the testing month of May is just around corner. All seniors need to finish strong as acceptance letters from colleges and universities will be pulled if grades slip.
Last, I need to share that the Class of 2018 is shaping up to be one of best I have had as a principal. Prior to this is it was the Class of 2016. Our current seniors are doing the right things and are providing our younger Centurions a great model to follow after. I know many are being accepted into some of the finest colleges in the nation. We are extremely proud of their academic achievement. Just as important though is that they are mature and demonstrate appreciation for what others have done for them along the way. Finish strong SENIORS!
Have a great evening and make sure you check out the Student Bulletin for seniors on the school’s website.
