UCHS 9thGrade Registration/Spanish Testing Update (07-11-2017)
Mr. Olivero here again and I know I called last night but have some additional information to share. First, if your student is going to be a fall athlete, cheerleader, band or color guard, they need to turn in their registration packet information tomorrow or Thursday morning at UCHS.
Second, for fall athletes, if you have not turned in your athletic packet confirmation letter to Dr. Brian Josten, he will also be on campus the next two mornings as well. No fall athlete can practice or participate on a sporting team until this is done and sports start the beginning of August.
Third, if your student did not attend Standley Middle School last year and they are seeking to take a higher level Spanish course (3, 4 or 5, 6), we will have our Spanish Department Chairperson at school in the morning to assess students in Spanish. The assessment will take about 30 minutes. Standley students already took this assessment last spring and we have the results, but we prefer to assesses our new students because we find their level of prior instruction in Spanish varies from one middle school to the next. To avoid a misplacement of a Spanish student in the fall, we prefer to make an adjustment now versus having the student stuck in a class they find is over their head.
Last, for those coming the next two days, it will be picture ID day so look sharp!
See you soon, Mr. O.
