All students receive physical education as part of their school curriculum.
In addition, the PTA sponsors a Running Club. The Running Club is a before-school, volunteer-based program promoting health and fitness. Children have the opportunity to start the day in a healthy, positive environment that sets the stage for a productive school day. By achieving awards at certain mile goals, children learn the value of perseverance, gain confidence and obtain health benefits that carry over into every aspect of their lives.
Running Club meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings before school, 8:35 a.m., at the dirt track. It's a free activity, sponsored by the PTA and run by parent volunteers. All Spreckels students are invited to participate. Parents are encouraged to stay and volunteer. Any questions should be directed to the PTA Programs Vice President or any member of the PTA Board.
