Q-Nation,

We had an incredible week! The students and staff at Serra High School are an inspiration for the rest of the country. Our students and staff celebrated school spirit this week in innovative ways. They have demonstrated compassion for breast cancer survivors and patriotism for our country. The students and staff culminated their activities with a super "Homecoming" game. The football team demonstrated that they were young men of valor. They won the game 22-20 with 30 seconds left in the game. The dance had over 800 students in attendance ( approximately 45% of our school population) .

Thank you, to the staff and students of the "Greatest High school in the Universe" you "ROCK"!!!

WEEK IN REVIEW

Serra Students Take A Tour of African Art

Mr. Kevin Beiser, Trustee, San Diego Unified School Board offered an African Art tour field trip to Serra High students during the summer. We took Mr. Beiser up on his offer and Ms. Carol Klett then organized our art students.

We went to the home of Bill and Michelle Lerach, Saturday, October 17 at 10:45 AM. We had a wonderful buffet lunch provided by our hosts. Mr. Lerach (art historian) talked about their incredible African art collection.

The students were fascinated by the direct influences that African art had on Picasso and others. The day end with a walk through an organic garden and beautiful arboretum with exotic birds.

Again, we thank the Lerach's for a wonderful and rich experience.
