May 24, 2015
Greetings Q Nation,
Wow, we had another awsome week! Jeff Thomas and Joe Schmidt represented Serra in our local parade Saturday along with our incredible band.
In addition, we have the following teams in CIF Play-Off games: Girls Softball, Boys Lacrosse, Track and field and individual Badminton players.
I want to thank Ms. Ruth Howell for working with our talanted theatrical students. They transformed the theater into a magical place. Cinderella was a special production that included students from Farb Middle School.
I also want to thank Mr. Mike George for his service as interim vice principal for the last month. Mr. George is a true friend of Serra and will continue to volunteer his time on our campus. Ms. Laurie Guido will begin her term as interim vice principal on Tuesday, May 26, 2015.
We currently have 15 days of school left. Therefore, I want all of our students to "Finish Like a Champion"!
Have a Q-Tastic Day !!!!
Dr. Vincent Mays

Congratulations to Brandon Tran,Valedictorian, and to our three Salutatorians, Dakota Churchill, Alex Byrne and Benjamin Phan!
The class of 2015 is proud to announce the extraordinary accomplishments of four students. These students have worked extremely hard to be in the top 1% of their class. This year our Valedictorian is Brandon Tran, who earned the highest GPA, a remarkable 4.73. He will be attending UCSD next Fall. We had a three way tie for the Salutatorian. With an outstanding 4. 7 GPA, Dakota Churchill, Alex Byrne and Benjamin Phan will share that honor this year. Dakota will be attending UC Berkely, Alex will be attending UCLA and Benjamin will be attending UCSD. On Wednesday, May 13th they celebrated their accomplishments their families along with principal, Dr. Mays, Head Counselor, Claudia Victorino and teachers Tonia Brooks and Tami Thoro.
Congrats to the four of them! On May 27th these students will be honored again at the Salute to Excellence celebration put together by our district at USD. We are very proud of all four Seniors! We look forward to hearing about your future success in the near future!
|Serra's ASB Hosts the SDUSD Annual "ASB Bonding Day"|
This past Saturday, Serra’s Multicultural Club conducted a fundraiser at Albertsons to collect donations for the victims of the recent earthquake in Nepal. There was a great loss of lives and devastation to homes, cultural treasures, and infrastructure that impacted everyone especially children. The members of the club felt that they wanted to contribute to the relief efforts. The club appreciates the support it received from the Albertsons management and from all its customers who so generously contributed.
The club’s mission is to promote and celebrate the great cultural diversity of our student population, but to also reach out to our communities near and far and to help out where they can.
|Keep Our Teens Safe: Know the Law About Social Hosting|
The logic seems simple: if our kids are going to engage in the use of alcohol, isn't it safer if they stay home? The logic, however, equates to unintended consequences and, more importantly, is illegal. We in the school community often hear about the effects of what is considered "Social Hosting:".
