We had an incredible week! I want to personally thank the following booster clubs: Boys' Water Polo, Football, Girls' Tennis and Girls' Volleyball. The parents and coaches prepared special celebrations for our student athletes. The Serra Cluster Winter Choral Concert and Serra High Schools' Winter Band and Orchestra Concert were outstanding. I want to thank our faculty and staff for creating a rigorous/challenging instructional environment. Therefore, our students must rely more on their social and emotional learning skills. 1) Self-awareness: The ability to accurately recognize one's emotions and thoughts and their influence on behavior. 2) Self-management: The ability to regulate one's emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively in different situations. 3) Social awareness: The ability to take the perspective of and empathize with others from diverse backgrounds and cultures, to understand social and ethical norms for behavior, and to recognize family, school and community resources. 4) Relationship skills: The ability to establish and maintain healthy and rewarding relationships with diverse individuals and groups. 5) Responsible decision making: The ability to make constructive and respectful choices about personal behavior and social interactions based on consideration of ethical standards, safety concerns, social norms, the realistic evaluation of consequences of various actions, and the well being of self and others. The aforementioned interrelated sets of cognitive, affective and behavioral competencies will prepare our students for the world of work and college. Please insist that all of our students understand this information. Again, it is a pleasure to lead the "Greatest High School In the Universe"!
