Principal’s Message:Friday, October 13

Another update on the AP Refund process.  Please do not request your refund.  A list has been given to the Finance Office and the department is in the process of securing addresses and refunding the checks.  I thank you for your patience and understanding.


LCAP Meeting will be conducted on Wednesday, October 18 at 4:30 in the Marshall Community Room to gather input from the parents on the development of the budget.

URGENT FEDERAL SURVEY FORM NOTICE TO ALL SRHS FALCON FAMILIES:  URGENT!! Federal Survey forms are due now!  Please fill out the form completely and have your student return it to their Period 1 teacher on Monday.  Thank you!!Cheers to Mrs. Knoff's class for returning all their forms by the due date & honorable mention goes to Mr. Britton's class for returning all but one.  Thanks.


From our Counselors: 

Dingeman/SRCA Scholarship 2017-18: The scholarship is open to Scripps Ranch HS seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a history of outstanding community volunteer service in the tradition of Col. Dingeman. Up to three students may be awarded $1,000. Application is due October 17th at 9 p.m.


Seniors: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid form is available now until March 2nd   https://fafsa.ed.gov/ . All students are encouraged to apply regardless of post high school plans. Remember, the earlier you apply, the better chance you have to receive federal money for post-secondary options. Good Luck!


Senior Students:  College Labs will be open on Mondays and Wednesdays after school in room 841 from 10/2/17 to 11/15/17.  Counselors will be available to assist and proofread applications. English teachers will also be available to assist with college application essays.*DO NOT SUBMIT COLLEGE APPLICATIONS WITHOUT A COUNSELOR REVIEWING THEM!


Sophomore Parents: This past week your student was given a copy of their current transcript, a credit check form (to confirm they are on track for graduation) and the Sophomore Review resource packet.  Please review all items with your student.

*Sophomore Parent Presentation is February 8th at 4:00 P.M. in the Theatre.


Senior Scholarship Information: Be sure to check Naviance for new scholarship postings. To view: Login to your Naviance account. Click on the College Tab. Scroll down and click on the scholarship list.  Browse through the available scholarships. Download the application or go to the scholarship website.  Apply! Apply! Apply! Good luck

Fall Open House at Miramar College will be held on Saturday, October 28th from 9am – 12pm in K-107 Student Services.  The event is free, and it’s a great way for students to learn about programs & services, financial aid, transfer, and priority enrollment programs.  Light refreshments will be served. College Fair:Over 100 colleges will be represented and various college readiness workshops will be held at the fair for high school students and parents. Location: Scottish Rite Center,1895 Camino del Rio South San Diego, CA 92108. Date October 25, 2017.  Time 6pm-8pm. Parking and admissions are FREE. Parents and students do not need to pre-register. 

Financial Aid Workshop (Cash for College) Free assistance is offered to help complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act (CADAA) applications. Location Mission Bay High School 2475 Grand Ave. 92109. Date November 4, 2017. Time 9am-12pm.

JUNIORS AND SENIORS: Please check the counseling website for information regarding college fairs coming up in October and November at www.srhsfalcons.org 

Senior Yearbook Information: For those seniors who had portraits taken at other studios you need to bring in a disk with your portrait from your photographer in order to be included in the yearbook. The deadline is October 27.

SENIOR BABY PICTURESare being collected from October 2- October 29th. Pictures need to be submitted on CD or USB Thumb drive. Questions – see Ms. Brady in room 426. Space is limited, first come-first served.

SENIOR ADS are currently on sale at the finance office until November 9. Pick up flyer in room 426 or at the finance office. Ads will not be due until January 12, but need to be purchased by November 9 to save space in the yearbook for them. More information regarding Yearbook deadlines and prices can be found on the SRHS web site.

Health Office: MEDICAL DEVICES: Just a friendly reminder that students who need to use a wheelchair, crutches, cane, etc need to have a medical order on file. These items are considered medical devices and therefore need a physician's prescription on file in order to use at school. Nurse Kathy

FLU Season has arrived! Please contact your primary care physician and vaccinate the entire family! We have already had several students test positive for Influenza Virus and have missed up to 5 days of school. Be Proactive! Get your Flu shot now! Nurse Kathy

Peer Tutor Information:  Peer tutoring is available Mondays-Thursdays after school from 2:15-3:15 PM in Room 410 for any students in need of academic help.
