Parent Message 6-28-20
Dear Falcon Families,
This week there is very little new information to share as we are still in the very early stages of planning for the 2020-21 school year. This coming week I’d like to host two virtual forums with you and your families for the upcoming 2020-21 school year to hear input or discuss questions/concerns you may have. Details for these virtual meetings will be included below. Here are the latest updates as of 6-28-20.
On Thursday, July 2nd from 4pm – 5pm I will host a virtual parent forum via Zoom for those that are interested in participating. To RSVP, click this (Link) to complete the Google Form. The meeting ID and password will be emailed to you the morning of July 2nd. The participation cap on my Zoom platform is 300 so please sign up early to reserve a spot.
Virtual Student Forum
Please pass this information on to your child as there is no way for me to email them directly using School Messenger. On Friday, July 3rd from 10am – 11am I will host a student forum so students can ask me questions about the upcoming school year. To RSVP, click this (Link) to complete the Google Form. The meeting ID and password will be emailed to the email listed under “student email address” on the morning of July 3nd.
To be flexible for online learning and to adhere to safety guidelines of students not sharing resources, SDUSD will move to a model where every student is checked out their own device and uses that device for learning at home and school. Students will be expected to charge their computers over night to be prepared for class the next school day and carry their laptop to and from school. Each classroom will be equipped with extra chargers and each school will have a replacement supply of devices for an easy exchange if the students’ device is not functioning properly. More details will be available soon regarding distribution of devices.
SDUSD Family Survey
I don’t have the final results as of yet, but 63.1% of all SRHS families have taken the district survey. The preliminary results show this breakdown for SRHS families:
5.4% Online learning
31.4% Online learning with prearranged visit to school site
63.3% Full on-site learning
We will use this data to inform us as we make staffing and master schedule decisions for next school year.
That is all I have for today. I look forward to speaking with some of you on Thursday during our virtual parent forum. Please remember to share the student forum link with your children.
