STUDENT PARENT HANDBOOK

Dear SDSCPA Students, Teachers, and Families:

With a warm heart, I embrace the principal position at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts—a nationally renowned school with a remarkable reputation for personalizing artistic and academic achievement to a highly diverse student body. Not only will we uphold the mission, vision, and values of SD SCPA, I will labor tirelessly to advocate for the staff, students, and community. As your principal, I pledge to keep the SD SCPA vision robust and alive, lead through compassion for all students, and maintain a reflective lens focusing on equity and opportunity for all of our young artists and scholars.

Student Parent Handbook

This handbook is designed to help stakeholders understand our school staff, policies, and resources. At the root of all policies is our belief in the importance of Student Learning Objectives (SLOs). Each SLO clarifies for the entire school community what students will know, understand and be able to do when they graduate from SD SCPA.

The SLOs guide policies, procedures, and standards-based curricula.

SCHOLAR: An SD SCPA scholar is a critical and creative thinker with a passion for lifelong learning and discovery.

CITIZEN: An SD SCPA citizen is actively involved in creating an environment that is welcoming, engaging, and inclusive of a highly diverse community.

PROFESSIONAL: An SD SCPA professional strives towards the highest standards and quality in preparation for success in college, career, and life.

ARTIST: An SD SCPA artist is a courageous, self-disciplined individual with a strong work ethic and a continuous desire to create an authentic work of art. With these learning objectives, we will continue to foster a culture of artistic and academic achievement—through routines, policies, and procedures where trust and compassion value the input from stakeholders and foster a belief that it is never too late to learn.
