Hello Sandburg Families

This is Principal Martin with our Sandburg Sunday Notes.

Tomorrow there is no school as we celebrate Memorial Day. I am very luck to live in our great country and to work educating our children. Memorial Day is a time when I think about our country and the freedom we enjoy. This freedom and our Rights are a direct result of the sacrifices by our men and women in the armed forces. I think about those men and women that made the ultimate sacrifice protecting our way of life. I think about their character and commitment. I think about the character of the students we are educating at Sandburg. Our Sandburg Lifeskills have been purposefully designed to help students build character traits necessary for the society of today and tomorrow.

This week the Pawsitive News Crew talked to our Tigers about Art & Resourcefulness. Click on this link to watch our Pawsitive News.

By popular demand, there will be one final order for shopping cards this year.  Please return all orders by Thursday June 1st.  There are order forms in the office or email shoppingcards@sandburgfoundation.org  for order form and gift card options.  Jenny will also be at running club on Wednesday morning for shopping cards.

Our Variety Show is this Friday. Come out and see some of our talented Tigers.

Spirit Week is coming up June 5th to June 9th.

  • Wednesday, June 7th    Purple/Yellow Day
  • Thursday, June 8th       Favorite Character/Super Hero Day

The holiday gift shop is staffed by PTA/parent volunteers.  If you are interested in volunteering this week please contact Stephanie Kwiatkowski: stephkwiatk@yahoo.com

Hello Sandburg Families

This is Principal Martin with our Sandburg Sunday Notes.

This year our PTA has made our fundraiser personal with your child’s art work. Instead of putting your child’s art work on the fridge you can have their art work added to mugs, magnets, t-shirts and much more. There are lots of great items you could use for holiday gifts. Square Art orders are due at school this Tuesday, November 10th or online by Wednesday, November 11th. Funds raised help support our community events.

Wednesday is Veterans Day, no school. Take time to thank a veteran for insuring our freedom and for their service to our country.

Our PTA is proud to host our “Out of This World” Family Reading Night this Thursday, November 12th, from 6-730pm.  Come dressed in your pajamas and bring a blanket.  This is a FREE event.  We will have milk and cookies.

We will begin Parent–Teacher conferences on Monday November 16th. Please make sure you have a conference scheduled with your child’s teacher. We have minimum days during our Parent Conference week of November 16- 20. Please make plans for pick up at noon during that week. Our foundation is offering an after school sports camp during conference week. The camp is open to all grades at a cost of $20 per day, noon until 2:00, sign up for one day or all days.

Hello Sandburg Families,

This is Principal Martin with our Sandburg Sunday Notes.

Many parents have asked about Columbus Day, this is not a holiday we celebrate at schools in San Diego. School is open tomorrow.

Our Fall Carnival is 2 weeks away. This is a wonderful community event that takes community support. You can help by donating candy and silent auction items. The candy donated is used as prizes for the Carnival games. Please send your bags of candy and silent auction items with your child to give to his or her teacher. For each bag of candy donated your child will receive 2 tickets to the carnival. Please check the flyers that went home with your student for more information. Any money above the expense of putting on this event and all of our silent auction funds are used to fund PTA events and activities for our students.

The Harlem Globetrotters are helping Mira Mesa Band reach their goal of the Tournament of Roses Parade. There is a Globetrotter basketball game on October 16th at the high school. Tickets are $25. Tickets should be purchased online at the high school’s foundation website. http://www.miramesahighschoolfoundation.org/atm_join_renew_or_donate.html
