Welcome new and returning families to the 2015-2016 school year. I trust you had an opportunity during the past few summer weeks to r3- rest, relax and rejuvenate. We anxiously await the arrival of our students. We are proud of our school and believe that we not only prepare our students for success in high school, but rather, success in college, life, and the career of their choice. We believe in the ideals of the International Baccalaureate Organization—an education that is second to none.
At IS, we embody our mission, vision, and Expected School Wide Learner Results (ESLRs). Our mission is to educate, engage, and empower all students to live ethically in an internationally-minded community. Our school envisions an academic environment where: a) students learn, achieve, and demonstrate mastery of district, state, and International
Baccalaureate standards; b) teachers provide a rigorous positive learning environment, which motivates students to achieve; c) parents make educational excellence a priority and actively support their children’s education; d) stakeholders value and implement the ideals of the “IB Learner Profile”; e) students understand the importance of intellectual, physical and emotional balance to achieve personal well-being for themselves and others (IBO 2007, IB Learner Profile). Our ESLRs include global communicators, self-directed learners, problem solvers, collaborative workers, technology users, and effective citizens.
In addition to our continued high expectations with respect to academics, we are also maintaining our expectations with student dress for all IS scholars. Please take a moment to read your student’s planner where we highlight school rules. We welcome your partnership. I ask that you please continue to be an active parent participant in the many parent activities we have planned throughout the year. I look forward to seeing you at our IS Parent Connect meetings, Coffee with Carmen, and our many other school related functions. Together, we will continue to work toward building upon our students’ achievement.
As the students return to school, they will quickly realize that the school has received a very needed face-lift or makeover, of sorts. Throughout these summer months, our campus has been abuzz with campus improvements. The robust list of beautification projects include: a new paint job, resurfaced parking lots, deep washing of the exteriors and walkways, new gym equipment, and a brand new turf field, to name a few. We are confident these improvements will bring students a renewed sense of pride in their campus where they can experience a lifetime of unforgettable high school memories.
On behalf of our school, we look forward to another successful year where we our students will continue to reap accolades. We sincerely appreciate your unyielding support of our students’ success!
