The Russ is Here to Stay

 The Russ is Overcoming Change

The Russ, the student-run newspaper is once again faced with several obstacles. With the beginning of the second semester there was a loss of staff members due to the need to fulfill credits for graduation as well as others leaving due to the demands and expectations of the publication.

With the change has come new staff members who although are inexperienced are highly motivated about joining The Russ.
Three experienced staff members, seniors Luci Galaviz, Taylor Bird and sophmore Anabelle Peterson have remained and are sharing duties in training and guiding the student-run publication.
Due to the changes The Russ will only release a Valentines article while the focus will be in training staff and preparing for a March publication.
The Russ was firstestablished in 1889 with the first edition distributed on December 6 of that year. It is one of the oldest of all student organizations at San Diego High, second only to the annual publication and is a member of the Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society for High School Journalists.
Questions, recommendations, or interests in joining the staff please email russ.sdhs@gmail.com or Mr. Senteno, advisor:  gsenteno@sandi.net or see your counselor. Journalism is open to ALL students and requires aminimum of one year. Be advised that joining The Russ staff is acommitment of time, dedication and effort and is not a "social" club. There will also be the Journalism Club that students can also join and contribute to The Russ. We are always recruiting students who are interested in voicing theirconcerns, ideas and who want to improve San Diego High and community through journalism.
