Rowan Elementary School is located in the Fairmont Park neighborhood of City Heights in San Diego. Rowan is a traditional calendar school serving 280 students in preschool through grade 5. Many children outside the immediate neighborhood attend Rowan through enrollment in the School Choice Program. Approximately 40 percent of our students speak a language other than English at home. Rowan is a proud member of the Hoover Cluster and the City Heights Partnership for Children.
Rowan Elementary is committed to creating conditions for all children to achieve academically. We strive to create equity in learning opportunities as we plan our instruction, which is based on Common Core State Standards. We teach our students to follow our school motto: "Be kind. Be brave. Be responsible. Dream Big! Go Roadrunners!" Each learner is encouraged to achieve academic and social success, enjoy learning, celebrate diversity, develop analytical skills, and model exemplary behavior. We empower our learners to be active participants in their own learning. We are committed to character building, and embrace social and emotional learning as an integral part of our curriculum.
Our school is dedicated to offering a rich, well-rounded education that includes a balance of reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and the arts. Through a generous grant from Price Philanthropies we offer high quality arts instruction to students in transititional kindergarten through grade 5.
We believe collaboration among parents, teachers, families, and the community ensures that all students have the opportunity to succeed, develop confidence and self-esteem, and reach personal and academic goals. Rowan has a very active School Site Council and Parent Teacher Association.
Please come take advantage of all that is happening at our school. Don't hesitate to contact us and find out how you can immerse yourself in the Rowan Roadrunner spirit!
