Parent Newsletter

Dear Rosa Parks Families,

This is always a busy time of year. Our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will begin State testing on June 20th. It is important that students arrive to school on time and are well rested. Keep in mind that children ages 7-12 need between 10-11 hours of sleep.

As we begin to plan for student placements next year, we invite you to share your thoughts if you have specific information that would help our staff make a more informed placement.

In order to create well balanced classrooms, the policy at Rosa Parks will be to not accept requests to have (or not to have) a specific teacher, we do value your input and thoughts. Please know that this is not an invitation for you to "choose" or “not choose” a teacher for your child for next year, but rather, a chance to inform our thinking as we create class rosters. Therefore, forms listing specific teachers will not be considered in the class placement process.

Examples of useful information would be:

  • Placement of twins or cousins
  • Special needs your child has that we may not be aware of
  • Previous experience with a teacher that was either positive or negative
  • Type of environment your child learns best in
  • Teacher qualities your child would benefit from
  • Desire to be placed in a multi-age class if available
Parent input forms are only available in the front office the week of June 6th-10th.
  • All forms are due no later than 3:00 PM on Friday, June 10.   Forms will not be accepted after this date.
