Family Friday

Please join us for Family Fridays! Family Fridays arescheduled October through June. They are the first Friday of the month on thesouth campus and the second Friday of the month on the north campus. At Porter,you have the unique opportunity to share in an academic task with your childand then follow up with a parent workshop that will support you in supportingyour child’s academic success with in the Common Core. Volunteering atSchool

We welcome volunteers at Porter Elementary! Volunteers canbe parents, guardians, grandparents, business/community partners, communitymembers, the military, K-12 and college students, senior citizens and others.San Diego Unified School District has outlined procedures (AP4595) for schoolvolunteer programs. In order to provide students with a safe environment andallow for a variety of opportunities for volunteering, volunteer participationis divided into four categories. Depending on the category, certain screeningprocesses must be completed by district staff prior to volunteering. Volunteersmust comply with the district’s volunteer screening requirements. Please seethe volunteer screening requirements and ask in the school office for avolunteer application today!

                  Getting Started

1.    Contact the school and ask to speak with thevolunteer coordinator

2.    Comply with appropriate volunteer screeningrequirements

3.    Complete and return the volunteer application

4.    Read and acknowledge understanding of theVolunteer Code of Conduct

5.    Provide results of Tuberculin skin test
