Sample Testimonials

“Dear Mrs. Meng, Our family just wanted to say thanks to you and all the great faculty and staff involved in last night's Math and Science Night and today's awards ceremony.  We have been very impressed with our experience at PBMS and appreciate all the hard work that goes into making it such a great school." - PB Middle family

“It is a rigorous program and [is] raising the bar academically.” – Pam Deitz, Community Member

"It is with sincere gratitude that I write this email to thank you for making my daughter's transition to middle school an enjoyable experience.  They system that you are using works because she found her footing by the middle of week one. She feeds off of your love for students and education. Please do not underestimate the power of your involvement with our children. They enjoy the personal stories of your challenges and experiences. You are as important as her parents because you spend more time with her during a week than either her dad or I.  [My child] has a great deal of respect and admiration for each of you. I am grateful for the academic rigor and the professionalism required in the academic and music education programs. [My child] has grown in every area from day one until present.  I never worry about her when she is at school.  I know that she is safe, challenged, and supported. I rave about our Mission Bay Cluster Schools every chance that I get."  Sincerely,  Katina Evans

It is a pleasure to write this letter of support for the Pacific Beach Middle School’s International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program.   As the former principal of Pacific Beach Middle School, I visit the school on a regular basis. The Pacific Beach Middle School staff, administration and community have remained committed to offering the I.B. Middle Years Program with fidelity over the years. It is with great enthusiasm I inform you of our district’s commitment to support Pacific Beach Middle School as well as all of our International Baccalaureate schools with a level of funding that allows them to continue to strengthen and grow their programs.  - Julie Martel, 2016 (former Principal at Roosevelt and Pacific Beach Middle, Current SDUSD Executive Director, Facilities, Planning and Design)

Welcome to the Pacific Beach Middle School and the International Baccalaureate Program, which delivers an educational experience that promotes a positive attitude towards learning, provides an integrated curriculum and instructional program aligned with world class standards, and values active engagement by students, parents and community members in the development and maintenance of a school culture that values diversity and inclusion. The Pacific Beach Middle School welcomes the dual-language students and their families to the International Baccalaureate experience with a warm spirit, open heart, and enthusiasm for the instructional opportunities awaiting those who aspire to further their mastery of language acquisition and develop bilingual competencies. The Rotary Club is an active partner with the Pacific Beach Middle School in supporting a high quality educational program that values excellent instruction in the classroom and a culture of learning in a school focused on the development of the pre-requisite skills and concepts needed for success in an ever-changing and increasingly interrelated world. We acknowledge the bilingual opportunities that await  the young scholars of Mandarin Chinese and the support that is planned for their continued development. In addition, we commend the outstanding work that is taking place in collaboration with the Confucius Institute to establish a foundation for the first Mandarin Chinese Program available for middle school students in the Mission Bay Cluster in preparation for their matriculation to Mission Bay High School. –Dr. Michael McQuary (Rotary Club Past President, Current SDUSD Board of Education Trustee)

The San Diego Unified School District is pleased to endorse the teachers, administration and parents of Pacific Beach Middle School in their goal to offer a Middle Years International Baccalaureate Programme. Given the commitment on the part of this campus, we believe that students will benefit greatly from the opportunity to participate in an IB Programme and will earn a secondary education that ranks among the best. The district has allocated funding to support this effort. We will provide an over-formula teacher position to oversee IB program implementation at both site (Mission Bay High School and Pacific Beach Middle School). In addition we will provide up to $50,000 to enable teams of teachers and administrators from Pacific Beach Middle School to participate in IB program trainings. San Diego Unified School District schools are greatly encouraged to strive for academic excellence. We look for to the successful implementation of the Middle Years Programme at Pacific Beach Middle School and are confident that the program will be successful. –Geno Flores, (former Deputy Superintendent) and John DeBeck (former Board of Education Trustee), San Diego City Schools (2006)
