  *  7th grade: 11:00am-12:00pm

  *  Evening distribution for all grades: 5:00pm-6:00pm

If you drive to the event, be sure to enter the lot from the east driveway and exit the west driveway. Please have a face covering and engage in proper social distancing. If you need someone else to pick up your yearbook, please contact Susan Fanno at sfanno@sandi.net to let her know who will be picking up your book.

8th Grade Promotion: The administration, teachers, and staff would like to honor the achievements of our 8th grade students with a virtual promotion. The video includes the traditional speeches and a slide show of our students. The link is posted in the 8th grade Google classroom.

Summer Opportunity: Chinese Culture Center at SDSU proudly announces the online Chinese summer camp for 2020. These online classes feature many of the similar activities students will do at a traditional camp, such as meeting new friends, learning new things, and improving academic skills. Unlike the in-person camp, this program offers a smaller class size, and project-based curriculum at a more affordable cost. In addition, a bonus complimentary class of Chinese cuisine culture is offered to those who sign up for both language and STEAM classes at each session. Spaces are limited, please act immediately as the deadline for registration is Sunday, June 21 on a first come, first served basis. For more information, please visit this link:  Online Chinese Summer Camp or sign up here: Registration

Yearbook Signing: SOCIALLY DISTANCED EDITION

We are excited to announce that the Pacific Beach Middle School yearbook signing tradition is alive and it’s fully digital to suit our socially distanced students. Jostens has just launched a new platform, Yearbook Digital Signing Pages, that gives every student in our school the chance to create virtual signing pages, invite their friends to leave messages, and print out the final pages to keep with the yearbook as a permanent keepsake. This is free for every student whether they purchased a yearbook or not. Register an account for your student today and help them get started collecting messages.

Principal’s Message:

It is hard to believe this unprecedented school year is coming to an end. There are just 11 school days left. Please take this time to put in one last push for learning and improving grades. Any effort put into school right now will only help students next year. At this time, we are still scheduled to return to school on Monday, August 31. Additionally, new student orientation and schedule distribution is set for Tuesday, August 25. The SDUSD Board is engaging in a workshop on June 16 to determine what school will look like next year. PBMS will continue to send out messages during the summer with more information. We are really looking forward to safe, in-person instruction next year.

The cost is $40. Ideally, yearbooks will be available for distribution at each event. However, the plant was shut down for a while and there may be delays in shipping. Our books shipped on May 22. Attendance: Every Friday, teachers report attendance in PowerSchool. Attendance indicates access to or participation in class. PBMS is asking all students to complete their teacher’s “Attendance Assignment” before noon every Friday so that we can determine if students are able to access their classes in an efficient manner. Please remind your child to check Google classroom for every teacher for this assignment (check Canvas for Mr. Doom’s assignment). The staff is making calls home to assist with this process.

Grading: Teachers are entering grades for submitted work into PowerSchool. You can check on your child’s progress there.
