CP Objectives

The Middle Years Programme Community Project

The student will document his or her process by keeping all details, research, photos, evidence, in a journal. The student will also complete a personal reflection, and present their final product, solution, and/or project overview. Their process journal will document the following steps in completing:
A: Investigate (researching, Statement of Intent)
B: Plan (Proposal for Action plan)
C: Take action (doing the project)
D: Reflect (includes evaluating, presenting/sharing)

Remember to document your progress of meeting these objectives. Your final score on your Community Project will be based on evidence of your achievement of the objectives.

Community Project Objectives

A Investigating
Students should be able to:

i. define agoal to address a need within a community, based on personal interests

ii. identifyprior learning and subject-specific knowledge relevant to the project

iii. demonstrate research skills.


B Planning
Students should be able to:

i. developa proposal for action to serve the need in the community

ii. planand record the development process of the project

iii. demonstrate self-management skills.


C Taking action
Students should be able to:

i. demonstrateservice as action as a result of the project

ii. demonstratethinking skills

iii. demonstrate communication and social skills.


D Reflecting
Students should be able to:

i. evaluatethe quality of the service as action against the proposal

ii. reflecton how completing the project has extended their knowledge and understanding ofservice learning

iii. reflect on my development of approaches to learning skills (research; communication; social skills; self-management; thinking)
