There's always a lot going on here at Ocean Beach Elementary. Please ensure we have your most current email address and phone number. Also, here are some ways you can stay up-to-date about what’s going on around campus:
School Web Site
Be sure to check out the OBE website regularly, especially the calendar section.
Morning drop-off for is a good time to hear brief announcements and news from Principal Drapeau. Parents/guardians are welcome to line up on the blacktop next to the red play structure
The marquee on the corner of Sunset Cliffs and Santa Monica has current information about school events.
OBE is on Twitter and Instgram. There is also a OBE PTA Facebook page. Click the links on our home page to get updates about school events.
Parents are encouraged to attend Association Meetings, which are held the second Tuesday of the month in the auditorium at 5:45pm. Childcare is provided.
The Ocean Beach Elementary School Site Council (SSC) and the Ocean Beach Elementary Site Governance Team (SGT) are an elected, decision-making group comprising parents, teachers, the principal, school staff, and community members. Meetings are open to the public and parents are encouraged to attend.
Back to School Night & Open House
Back to School Night takes place in September and our Open House is in June. Back to School Night is an adult only event, giving parents the opportunity to meet their child’s teacher and hear what they have planned for the year. The Spring Open House is for students and their parents/guardians to celebrate the students’ work and accomplishments.
This is the ideal opportunity for you to review your child’s progress with their teacher. Parent conference days are scheduled in November and in March. During conference days, school is on a minimum day schedule, with dismissal at 12:15pm for all students. Please schedule additional conferences with your child’s teacher any time you feel they are needed.
The best way to know what is going on at OBE is to be a part of the action! There are many ways you can help, including classroom support, school events, and the school garden to name a few. If you’d like to find out how you can volunteer please contact our volunteer coordinator, Donna Lamb, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Volunteers need to fill out a volunteer application each year and complete a TB clearance questionairre. Please note, field trip chaperones are considered volunteers and need to complete the volunteer process.
San Diego Unified School District
