Penninsula Arts Alliance

There is a shared appreciation for the arts in our community and a growing awareness that we can enjoy interesting, high-quality cultural events and activities here in the Peninsula. Our schools, libraries, churches, and community organizations develop and showcase local talent and host guest artists and performers from greater San Diego and beyond.

The Peninsula Arts Calendar provides a central listing for these cultural events and activities. Published quarterly as a flyer, the calendar is distributed through schools, libraries, churches, civic associations, restaurants and retail outlets. We cover a broad range of events band concerts, plays, musical productions, art exhibits, talent shows, and other activities at Peninsula venues. Any local cultural event that is open to the public is eligible for listing. We give listing priority to not-for-profit organizations.

The goals of the Peninsula Arts Calendar are to spotlight local arts and culture, to encourage artists and performers of all ages, to build audiences, and to promote arts education in our schools and community.

The Peninsula Arts Alliance (PAA) is an informal network linking local residents who are active supporters of community arts and culture. To join our PAA contact list, please send your e-mail address to Lee Lipsey: lee.lipsey@cox.net. You will receive occasional updates about local arts and arts education.

The Art Room
The artist Mark Rothko once said, "Art is an adventure into an unknown world, which can be explored only by those willing to take the risks." It is in this spirit that the @rt room was created.

Like art rooms in schools everywhere, this virtual art room is meant to be a "special" place. Within its "walls," kids are offered opportunities to create, to discover, to imagine, to invent, to learn, and to make their thoughts become things. In short, the @rt room is a place for kids to explore their inner and outer worlds.

The @rt room is designed around the idea of "activity" centers that encourage kids to create, to learn and to explore new ideas, places and things on their own.
