The goal of the Library/Media Center is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of information. We encourage all students to become excited about exploring the wonderful world of books and technology. The library/media program assists students in locating and using library information systems and emphasizes practical skills in referencing and researching through the use of standard reference materials as well as electronic resources. We provide students the opportunity to gain experience in locating information and to become self-directed, lifelong learners.
All students visit the library once per week with their class. We furnish literary guidance during classroom visits and encourage self-selection. Library visits extend classroom learning and support curriculum standards. The library maintains a new book collection with a fully automated circulation system. The library provides a variety of reading materials that serve every child. Students must have a signed parent permission slip on file in the library to check out books. Library books may be checked out for a one-week period and may be renewed. When a student has an overdue library book, s/he may not check out a new book until the book is returned or a replacement fee is paid.
